I just received a post card in the mail stating that the tax on a carton of cigarettes is going up again. Enough is enough!! Everytime the government has to raise money they target the cigarette smokers. I have a real issue with this practice. The smokers of the world are not the only people responsible for supporting the government and its citizens. I for one would like to see a huge tax put on alcohol. A smoker is doing more than his share in paying taxes. Because he has a habit that society has deemed harmful to everyone he will be forced to carry the burden of the rest of the people. Alcohol related accidents cause how many numerous deaths a year ? The loss of time at work due to hangovers & rehabs is more time than a smoker loses a year. Why then don’t we treat the alcohol users the same as we do smokers. Now a days a smoker is a second class citizen. The alcohol user should be the same.
