Devils 4 Flyers 2

December 18th, 2007

The Flyers made another trip to New Jersey yesterday with the same result as in the old building. They just can not beat the Devils on the road. The game was pretty well played and they put a lot of pressure on Marty Brodeur but just can’t seem to pull it off. We have Phoenix at home tomorrow night which is a rare visit. The Coyotes are a strong young team that will really test the Flyers. We need to come out of this funk we’re in real soon or we’ll be looking up from the bottom just like last year. The talent is there they just need to put it together.

Eagles 10 Cowboys 6

December 17th, 2007

The Eagles gave their fans an early Christmas present yesterday by beating the Cowboys in Dallas 10-6. The Jimmy Johnson defense kept the Cowboys out of the endzone all day. What a perfect defensive scheme. You could not have played a better game. You could see the frustration on the entire offensiove team by the 3rd quarter. Dallas has not been kept out of the endzone like this all year. The Eagles mustered just enough offense and the best play of the day was at the end. Brian Westbrook could have scored a touchdown but fell at the 1 yeard line in order to keep trhe clock running. What a team player he is. Just an awesome win for the Birds in a season filled with disappointment.

Kings 109 76ers 99

December 15th, 2007

The 76ers winning streak ended at four last night as the Kings had a very strong 2nd half to take the win. The Sixers led by as many as 9 points in the 1st half but turnovers and loose defense allowed the Kings to tie the game by half time. Sacramento took over in the 3rd period and led by as many as 16 points. They held on from there to gain their 1st road victory of the year.

Giants 16 Eagles 13

December 10th, 2007

The Eagles let another close one slip away yesterday to drop to 5-8 on the season. All playoff hopes went as David Akers 57 yard attempt hit the upright. They should have run one more play before the attempt. A 5 to 6 yard play that could have put him a little closer. They just don’t have the team this year and will be watching the playoffs from the comfort of their million dollar homes.

Avalanche 2 Flyers1

December 8th, 2007

The Flyers lsot a tight one last night in Denver. They palyed a pretty good game but gave up a power play goal with 2.9 seconds left in the secnond period that proved to be the game winner. Danny Briere scored the Flyers only goal on a power play after the Avs took a 1-0 lead. Marty Biron kept them in the game with some real nice shots but the Flyers could not get the tying goal past Jose Theodore.

Omaha Shootings

December 6th, 2007

The shooting yesterday in Omaha is jsut another grave reminder of how trobled the world is today. A 19 year old shot and killed 8 people and wounded 5 others before turning the gun on himself in a crowded mall. He left a suicide note that stated he would go out being famous. I don’t know about anyone else but that is not how I would like to be remembered. He stole the shotgun from his step father and smuggled it into the mall. Just goes to prove again that we need tougher gun laws. This troubled teen ager more than likely got the idea from all of the media coverage received by other mass murders. What a world.

Celtics 113 76ers 103

December 6th, 2007

The 76ers had an early lead but were not able to out shoot the Celtics. The shooting tonight by both teams was outstanding. The Celtics shot 52% from the field while the Sixers shot 55% and still lost by 10 points. Ed Stefanski’s opener as General Manager could have went better but at least the 76ers hung tough with the best the NBA has to offer this season.

Sixers Fire King

December 5th, 2007

The 76ers have finally made the move they needed to for the last 10 years. They fired G.M. Billy King who never had a bit of succes turning the 76ers into a contender. He did a miserable job and should have been fired years ago. Ed Stefanski will take his place and should do a much better job than King.

Eagle Loss

December 4th, 2007

The Eagles actually didn’t paly too bad of a game yestereday with one exception. Their quarterback was completing passes to the other team at as good a percentage as his team. Can you say 4 interceptons cost the Birds the game. A.J. Feeley looked worse than a rookie How can you throw into dourble coverage and think you’re going to get away with it. The quarterback controversy is officially over in Philly. That was a pathetic performance.

Good Day

December 2nd, 2007

The Eagles will take on the Seahawks today and the weather should be an interesting factor. There is light snow and sleet coming down and the forecast is for more of the same this afternoon. They just put new sod down at the Link and conditions should be suitable for a mess. The Eagles will start A.J. Feeley at quarterback which should give the Birds a decent chance for a win. They must keep the Seahawks pass rush at bay in order to have any success. Should be a good game.
