I have worked for a company that used to be owned by Bell Atlantic. When Bell owned us we had as much work as we could handle. Received decent raises and had good benefits. I decided to put my full effort into working my way up in the company. I reached a postion that I was happy to get. I had to work off hours and holdiays but was compensated for the time. That was 12 years ago. We are under new management again and the value of my paycheck has gone down every year. We have not had a raise in the last 8 years and have been told  that after an analysis that every postion in our company has been overpaid for the last 10 years. I have busted my butt for this company and now I feel as if I am trapped. I put applications in and the way the job market is today I don’t hear back from most of them. I remember when we could walk into a company and put an application in and maybe even meet the hiring manager without have to run a gauntlet. The worst thing I ever did was not furthering my education. I am a hard working man who needs to get the hell out of Dodge.

I always wondered if the officiating in professional sports was suspect. The Tim Donaghy betting scandal has all but answered my doubts. To think that a man with a whistle can influence the outcome of a game is to say the least scary. It makes you think of all the money that is bet on each and every game college of pros. If there is an official on the take in even 1% of the games played each day………..That’s a lot of games….Now we can scrutinize every call made in every game wondering if the official has a wager on the outcome. They thought we were on the officiating before……….What a disgrace
