The stock market dropped 280 points today. I really get a kick out of the way the people with the money can control the people who have little or nothing. The market may have dropped today but as long as you are invested in oil you won’t lose for long. The oil industry has and will continue to control the prices of virtually every industry world wide. I remembrer back in the 70’s when we had oil shortages and long line at the gas pumps. The world may have been a little less focused on oil then they are now. Of course now the price of a gallon will shoot upward at the threat of violence in the Mideast ot the possibility of a hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico. What a joke you people are. You just look for any reason to jack the prices so you can fill your pockets even more than they already are. The rich will continue to get rich while the less fortunate will continue to suffer. I hope that one day the market drops to the pont where the rich will lose all they have. Then they can know what it feels like to have to rob Peter to pay Paul.

I read and listened to Michael Vick’s guilty plea today. The sincerity did not look like it was there to me. I’m thinking the only reason he pled guilty was because the evidence was so overwhelming and his  co-defendants were going to testify against him. The judge should give him the maximum sentence allowed in my opinion. He needs to spend some time behind bars to teach him that even if you have it all you must obey the law. I hope the disappointment he supposedly is feeling is genuine. He has let a lot of young fans down with actions. He has let himself down most of all.

I wrote earlier this week that the Phillies would win the Wild Card in the N.L. East. The situation has taken a drastic turn for the worse. I watched or listened to the three games against the D0dgers & two against the Padres. The down fall of the Philles will be their bullpen. The starting pitching has been decent except for Moyer recently. The theory is to get six innings out of your starter and then turn it over to the pen. The only reliever pitching close to decent is Romero. The thought of Alfonseco, Geary & Gordon getting the ball is really scary any more. If they do get to the point of using Myers it is a matter of which version will show up. Some nights he is pretty much unhittable and other nights he looks like a rookie. The hitting will take care of itself but if the pitching does not turn around real quick their chances have all but disappeared.

We’re getting ready to take off for vacation tomorrow. I have the pleasure of taking my wife and children to Ocean City,MD.. There is not a better place in the world to spend a week. They have everyting we need in one location to have a blast. This year however is a little different. I will be dropping them off and heading back home to work. This will be the first time since we’ve been together that I will not be vacationing with them. I will miss spending quality time with my daughter on the minature golf courses. We always have a great time and we hit quite a few courses in one week. My wife will probably enjoy the peace and quiet of not having me around. The week should be interesting for everyone. Gotta go……

This new site I found www.bizrate.com is fantastic. They have everything you can imagine in one easy to shop location. The best part about the site is that I can go from one store to another without ever getting in my car. The prices are listed for each item and you also can review the stores rating. There is a wide variety of products to choose from. They have jewelry for the women along with fall fashions and back to school specials. The men have the electronics and automotive to mention a couple of area to browse. You can basically do all of your shopping at this one site and compare prices from the convenience of your home. I even found a fairy costume for my daughter this Halloween.

I just don’t get people sometimes. How can anyone justify dog fighting? The fact Stephon Marbury would side with Vick speaks volumes about him. I mean hunting for deer is by no comparison the same as dog fighting. I do not believe in hunting animals either but forcing them to fight one another is just not humane. If I were a professional athlete right now I’d watch what I say in siding with Vick. Don’t forget Stephon the endorsement checks could be oth line for you too.

Looks like September ought to be interesting to say the least. There is not one divison that is a runaway. The Yankees have come from a long way out to make it interesting in the A.L. East. I’ll stick with Boston. The A.L. Central could be a three way race if Minnesota can get some better pitching out of their starters (just like everbody else). We’ll go with Detroit here. I think Seattle will overtake the Angels in the West. The Indians are going to be the surpise as the Wild Card.
The N.L. East is going to be the best race. I’m a Phillies fan but the Mets have better pitching and they outlast the Phils and Braves. Milwaukee is falling fast in the Central Division. The Cubs should be able to stay on top. Finally the Diamondbacks seem to be in pretty good postion in the West. That leaves the Wild Card which I think will go to the Phillies.

What happened to the world we used to know. When I was growing up in the 1960’s & 1970’s things were so much simpler. The technology of today was a work in progress back then. We used to think about how much better the world would be if we had this or that. Today in the year 2007 we have this and that and the world is a total mess. This just goes to show you that even with all the technology in the world it is still a human being that makes them work. The world today has all of the wrong people in every extension of the goernment making the decisions that effect us all every day. The fact is that no matter who we put in office today will be just as bad as the previous elected officials.

I was deeply saddened to hear that 3 more miners have lost their lives while trying to rescue their trapped co-workers. The effort these workers put into the attempt should be recognized by all. The truth is we can only hope that they are still alive after all this time.
The mountain is alive and seems to be crumbling slowly but surely. I hope the MSHA can fiure out a way to at least reach the trapped miners without losing anyone else. This just goes to show you that know matter how much technolgy we have, Mother Nature will do what she pleases. God Bless The Miners!!!!

I have worked for a company that used to be owned by Bell Atlantic. When Bell owned us we had as much work as we could handle. Received decent raises and had good benefits. I decided to put my full effort into working my way up in the company. I reached a postion that I was happy to get. I had to work off hours and holdiays but was compensated for the time. That was 12 years ago. We are under new management again and the value of my paycheck has gone down every year. We have not had a raise in the last 8 years and have been told that after an analysis that every postion in our company has been overpaid for the last 10 years. I have busted my butt for this company and now I feel as if I am trapped. I put applications in and the way the job market is today I don’t hear back from most of them. I remember when we could walk into a company and put an application in and maybe even meet the hiring manager without have to run a gauntlet. The worst thing I ever did was not furthering my education. I am a hard working man who needs to get the hell out of Dodge.
